Advertisement Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 Hi LEICA_MAX, Take a look here can zoom R lens be 6 bit coded for M system?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
masjah Posted September 13, 2015 Share #2 Posted September 13, 2015 No. An adapter sits between the lens and the camera, and this has a code which causes the camera to make available a menu of many R lenses, including yours, which you can then select. jip Posted September 13, 2015 Share #3 Posted September 13, 2015 Not the lens itself but the R-M adapter I coded so the camera knows there is an R lens attached, then you can select the proper R lens from the list.
Hugh 38 Posted September 13, 2015 Share #4 Posted September 13, 2015 Out of interest would you have to use the 'live view' system on the M to compose with ? I have limited practice with an M6 and I have the 3 pairs of bright line frames which would be hard to use with a zoom .
LEICA_MAX Posted September 14, 2015 Author Share #5 Posted September 14, 2015 Thank you all for your comments! I guess that there's no way that I can see apertures on LR with a code setup... And Hugh : I use EVF but yes I sometimes use the live view. Either way, the process is so slow for my style of shooting. With a Sony system, it's bit faster. You can practice with line frames of course.. and I have.. I was mad at some shots I missed the focus, then I don't use it anymore.
gvaliquette Posted September 14, 2015 Share #6 Posted September 14, 2015 Hugh: how would you focus with an M6? Max: the EVF does use live-view. But you should still get the aperture "guesstimate" from the M body.
Hugh 38 Posted September 15, 2015 Share #7 Posted September 15, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I only have the ' pop up ' Elmar 5cm f2.8 lens on my M6 , so I compose with the bright line frame and focus by turning the lens and matching up the two squares in the viewfinder . Picture focused ! . Interesting about using a zoom on an M . I have not had a go with the live view on an M .
jip Posted September 17, 2015 Share #8 Posted September 17, 2015 R lenses are not rangefinder coupled, so the 'two squares' won't work with an R lens.
