A tale of two adapters

I have of late been experimenting with old manual focus Nikon lenses on my M240.  I have two adapters, a Fotodiox that I bought used for $29 and a Novoflex.  The Novoflex has an additional ring that can be used to operate the diaphragm on lenses which do not have one.

On examining these adapters it is obvious that the Novaflex has a smaller inside diameter than the Fotodiox.  I assume that it is a part of the diaphragm control unit that I am seeing, as it appears to be a ring screwed inside the normal bayonet ring to hold the diaphragm in place.

The issue is that the smaller inside diameter of the Novaflex contacts the roller for the rangefinder mechanism.  It appears to make contact in exactly the same manner as the focusing cam on a Leica lens, which is to say pressing straight into the body in a line parallel with the lens axis.  it doesn't push in very much, but it does cause a slight inward movement of the roller wheel and arm.

As best I can tell, the slight movement is no different from what a lens would cause, but I'm of two minds about using the adapter.  Does anyone have any information on this?

I just picked up the Novaflex for my M-P Safari so I can use my Pentax and Voigtlander K mount primes. No idea what the heck I am doing as of yet. Figured I'd get familiar with the camera first. On that point I have to chuckle.  I find myself shooting it intuitively and in the same way I shoot my Pentax K5IIs. So feel right at home. Anyway, the adapter seems to lock on fine but the outer aperture control ring does partially cover the lens release button on the M-P body, so slightly trick to depress for lens release. Any thoughts on that, I'm all ears. It's probably a tradeoff to have aperture control.

I have the Novoflex LEM/NIK NT adaptor, which is for the Leica M for Nikon F-mount lenses, including the G lenses which lack aperture ring. I don't know the LEINIK-NT adaptor. But my LEM/NIK NT adaptor is fine - has not caused any problems to either my lenses or the camera, that I'm aware of.
