leitz_not_leica Posted May 24, 2007 Share #1 Posted May 24, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Does anyone remember where, I think on the Leica company site (I can't find it), where I can enter a serial number of a product and the site describes the product? I would be helpful for verifying black paint vs. third party painted bodies, for instance.

leitz_not_leica Posted May 24, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted May 24, 2007 Thanks for that, Jan, but I was looking for lens data. The Leica one no longer exists, see my other double post below.
doubice Posted May 24, 2007 Share #4 Posted May 24, 2007 Thanks for that, Jan, but I was looking for lens data. The Leica one no longer exists, see my other double post below. Steve, The second link will give you lens data - year of manufacture. I am sure that there were not too many lenses repainted by second parties. Here is another link with lens data: Leica FAQ - Leica Serial Numbers online I don't believe there is a cross reference which would give the type of a lens associated with a serial number, some lenses were made in very small serial number batches and the listing would be huge.
