Leica MP Type 240 Safari Set With Summicron Lense(s)

I'm in the process of purchasing the above Safari kit yet when I look at adding an APO-Summicron 90mm f/2 ASPH, it is only in "black" which may or may not a good look with the olive green body.  Thoughts?  Thanks

Maybe you should take a look at the 90 Summarit as it commes both in black and silver, I 've never seen the Safari edition in real life so I have no opinion on which goes better with your camera.

Doesnt look bad at all i was using safari with black 50 lux

the summarit 90mm f2.4 looks very nice in silver

if you can lose the f2 and also the biting clarity of the APO (the summarit is merely very sharp) and save yourself some cash I would recommend this

 

I think black lenses look good on the safari but silver lenses do look better, no doubt

 

Lastly be aware that Leica will custom make anything for a price. Perhaps you should contact them directly to ask how much a silver 90mm APO would be custom made, just for fun ....

I have the Safari and use it with 70mm summicron, as well as with 15mm V III.  To me both black lens look great, even more so with a black EVF on top. The camera has black and chrome motifs so there is no color clash.  In my opinion it is color designed to take both black and chrome, and in that sense is more versatile than the silver or black versions.

 

If you need a pic of the Safari with the black lens let me know.

I use a 50 cron on mine. It goes well. I tint afoot the silver 50 lux but it is heavier and more costly

Lastly be aware that Leica will custom make anything for a price. Perhaps you should contact them directly to ask how much a silver 90mm APO would be custom made, just for fun ....

If doing so, why not ask for SAFARI GREEN summicron?

Thank you for all the informative replies.  In short, using a black Leica lense is a "non-issue".  I'll move forward to get the best Leica lense I can afford as lense #2, #3...  Xiexie 谢谢

You can also source a pre ASPH E55 90 Summicron in silver chrome finish - these turn up from time to time on the classifieds (mostly expensive in the 3000 - 4000 EUR range, while a regular black lens  of same make can be had for 1000 - 1200 EUR).

I have the Safari M-P and IMO my black lenses do not look out of place on it at all. 

 

The only combination that might look a bit odd (IMO) would be a silver lens on a black M body.  Still, that would be a non-consideration in my thinking; I will use whatever M glass I have on whatever M body I have. 

 

I do wonder though if Leica would make an ala carte M lens in olive green to match the Safari body; that might be an interesting look.

the apo 90 is a phenomenal lens, performance-wise, on any M & the M-240 is no exception.. cosmetically speaking, the black lenses still look great on the Safari-M240 & very masculine. try adding a black grip - really butch. i wouldn't get too hung up on it. a silver version weighs a ton, if you can find one. you could add a silver chrome (e58?) uv filter for a little flourish & as a nod back to the silver dials & controls. maybe it's worth remembering, this focal isn't going to sit on your camera 100% of the time.
