Tony Mac Posted September 11, 2015 Share #22 Posted September 11, 2015 .... and color of Cinestill. http://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/205842-i-like-filmopen-thread/?p=2879467 Thanks Massimo Henry Ah yes, cinestill. However by removing the rem jet layer they also remove the anti-halation backing which turns point light sources into orbs. Only really an issue at night, works great for daytime stuff. rjans Posted September 11, 2015 Share #23 Posted September 11, 2015 I know Fuji goes strong with their Instax Instant cameras and films. They have build early this year a new factory for Instax film due to high demand. On my recent holiday there was one lady using a film compact. Living in Europe I have a subscription on, to my knowledge, the only analog German magazine all about analog photography (4 issues a year, I can read German but hardly write it). The magazine is PhotoKlassik. Some information about the latest issue: http://www.fotointern.ch/archiv/2015/09/09/photoklassik-iv-2015-die-analog-fotografie-waechst-langsam-aber-stetig/ . It is a very nice magazine printed on high quality paper. I've somewhere read that subscriptions on this magazine were exceeding their expectations. According to them analog is steady slow growing. indergaard Posted September 11, 2015 Share #24 Posted September 11, 2015 I am buying more film. So is my wife, and many of my friends. The local store here sells more film now than last year.
semi-ambivalent Posted September 11, 2015 Share #25 Posted September 11, 2015 which turns point light sources into orbs. It's easy to get this with Double-X (B&W) as well. People who see my prints that exhibit this love the images anyway; they don't complain about the 'glow' at all. This probably doesn't translate to color very well unless the mood of the image works with it and it's what you're after. Just a data point against surgical perfection. It's often over-rated... s-a
fotohuis Posted September 11, 2015 Share #26 Posted September 11, 2015 Reaction from my web shop in the Netherlands: B&W films are slowly going up since last year. C-41 and E-6 are still going down where E-6 is the worst IMO for the near future. Photo paper (classical Silver) was already on a low level, seems to be stable now. I think in the last years more people are scanning and some more users in the Lomo world. Also people in M.F. who have bought a more or less professional camera like Mamiya, Bronica, Rollei or Hasselblad. I am selling more 120 roll film then 35mm since a few years. I just wanted to clarify the difference between using Vision 3 stock and Cinestill.
junakreiter Posted September 12, 2015 Share #28 Posted September 12, 2015 My local dealer is rather pessimistic in terms of film. Im not at all an experienced photographer, but i can see a positive developement. I think it will go the vinyl - way... cheers, Alex.
colonel Posted September 12, 2015 Author Share #29 Posted September 12, 2015 Just saw a special film supplement in Amateur Photographer UK. Worth a read. According to the silverprint boss, B&W up, C41 up and down over the year but up slightly year on year, E6 dying. Quite upbeat, particularly as they did a whole supplement. Evidence of strong demand in 20-30 year age group who never had film experience before, as opposed to older people who are "returning". Seen as more artistic then digital and less mass produced
