Shootist Posted May 24, 2007 Share #1 Posted May 24, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Well I'm sending my M8 off to NJ today for the brass spots on the sensor and to get the crack/repair near the locking lug looked at. Hopefully they will just replace the camera with a new one. I will surely be PO'ed if they send my camera back to Solms and I'm without it for months. I was even thinking of buying another body but really can't justify the expense. Guess it's back to the Nikon D200 and B&W film through my M3. At least this give me a chance to try out all my new Leica lenses on the M3. Since getting the M8 every time I go out to do some shots I look down at both cameras, M8 & M3, and always grab the M8. The M3 has had a new roll of film in it for the last 2.5 months with only 4 shots taken.

Cindy Flood Posted May 24, 2007 Share #2 Posted May 24, 2007 I feel your pain, Ed. I have been parted from my M8 twice and it is not fun. I carry my M3 with me, too. I usually take it out and take maybe 2 or 3 shots a day with it. The immediate feedback and ability to switch back and forth with iso and between black and white and color, makes the M8 addicting. However, I do like holding the old M3 in my hand and pressing the shutter. It amazes me that they got it so right 50 years ago.
Shootist Posted May 24, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted May 24, 2007 Thanks for the reply Cindy. Hopefully Leica will replace the camera and I'll have a M8 back in my hands in a couple of weeks.
