macos Posted May 24, 2007 Share #2 Posted May 24, 2007 An impressing series, not only because of the contents but also because of the composition. I hope not everything at this journey has had this special mood BR Marcus
jotam Posted May 24, 2007 Share #3 Posted May 24, 2007 Marco, This is a refreshing series, with enormous potential! The only thing: maybe «People» would be the right section... José
svenning Posted May 24, 2007 Share #4 Posted May 24, 2007 Dear Marco Giardini, I am not sure what you want to show with these pictures from a public rest room? If you want to show the poor quality of Russian public rest room - okay - then I can follow your reason for taking the pictures and giving them the above mentioned title. But if you want to tell about Russian private life style from showing poor quality of Russian public rest rooms - then I do not understand your intentions with your pictures? I am quite sure that I can find public rest rooms here in Denmark of the same poor standard as shown on your pictures - but does that tell anything about Danish private lifestyle? I don't think so (!) All the best - Svenning, Denmark.
.oesse Posted May 24, 2007 Author Share #5 Posted May 24, 2007 Dear Svenning, i do travel and it happens i do travel to russia for work. My camra is often with me and in my last trip i had the possibility to visit some restrooms, public, of course. The first and 3rd pictures are from Rostov's airport. The other 2 are from 2 different factories in moscow. There is no sense of denigration in my pictures, nor in the title i have used. I consider this kind of photos a different way to make reportage, showing to whom has not the possibility to be there, how is there. I agree that even in denmark or here in italy toilets could be the same, but i will never consider this the honor of the place not the honor of a country (thanks God!) Private russian lifestyle comes from the last picture since there you can see 2 human presences. And since i do not find the name "toilet" nor "restroom" a good title, i have choosen this one since also gives a mystery effect on the pictures themself. svenning Posted May 24, 2007 Share #6 Posted May 24, 2007 Dear Marco Giardini, Thank you for your very honest answer - I really appreciate that. From an artistic point of view - I think you have made 4 very interesting pictures, however you might have to to consider the title once again :-)) All the best - Svenning, Denmark. .oesse Posted May 25, 2007 Author Share #7 Posted May 25, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks to you Svenning, i'm honest and i still think that honesty comes from the ability to respect everything. About the title, if you read it under a different light i'm sure you will note some respect in it. keep in touch marco
