well i know that there are already many posts (and a open one just in this days) but my questions are more detailed

i need a small tablet (around 8" display) for using as back /up storage for my travels (also for some edit on the way)

it must be powerful enough for processing big Full frame raw files (24mp Leica files and next A7rII 42mp files)

usually i shoot Raw+jpg, and i like to upload backup some selected photos on my Dropbox account to be safe 100% that whatever it happen i will have a safe copy

actually i selected 2 tablets , ipad mini 2 128gb or the new samsung galaxy tab s 8.4" (octa core)

the samsung look very powerfull

i would like to select the photo before import, since big raw files exceed of much even the 128gb of ipad, and i would like to select what to import (i have an old ipad and is a pain the import operation)

my questions are so:

-is ipad mini enough powerfull for processing such big files, and it will import both raw and JPG without compressing/resize??it's slow like old ipad the process??

-anyone tried this new generation octa core android tablet? on paper they look powerfull, and it look (???) i can preview memory card and select just what i want to import

since this it look samsung is better (on paper:bigger screen, lighter, more resolution on amoled screen, memory card reader, more powerful) but i m in the apple ecosystem already (macbook pro and air  and iphone)

i own also a old Macbook air 11 (first generation dual core) but is too slow already it goes in panic with 24/36mp files, and charger to big , for what a computer of 1kg if i must carry a charger of 500gr?????????? pls apple !!

thanx all

NOT TRUE

You're right. Thanks for your very helpful message, Prk.

If you shoot raw+JPEG, Photos on iPad will import both but you can only access the raw from the Mac version of Photos. Export from Photos (eg import into Lightroom Mobile, save to Dropbox, ...) on the iPad will only export the JPEG.

Once the iPad version has synchronised with iCloud, then on your Mac the thumbnail will show a J in the bottom left corner. Double click the image, click on Edit in the menu then right click the image and you get the option to use raw as original. End the edit. Then the thumbnail will show an R in the bottom left corner.
