Leica and B+W UV-IR samples on WATE

When I bought the WATE I knew it would be a while before the Leica UV filter would be in, so I got the only available solution at the time, a 67mm B+W filter with the Leica adapter. As soon as the Leica 49mm filter arrived from Solms I shipped it off to John Milich for the adapter retrofit. When it arrived this week I wanted to see if there was any noticeable difference between the two filters in real-world shooting situations.

These files were processed in Lighroom with no modifcations to the DNGs. All images were shot at f/5.6.

From these tests, it's obvious there is a big difference between using a filter and not using one. There appears to be a very slight difference between the B+W and the Leica filters, but it's something you only really notice when comparing them side by side.

A post will follow with more examples.

Good test John , pretty much my same results . the first one is a little harder to see that set but the bottom it is much more obvious. My conclusion was and is the leica filters work best on the WATE and anything from 21mm down even on the WATE the B+W at all the focal lengths the cyan cast shows , with the Leica filters 18mm and 21mm are extremely clean and just a slight trace in the 16mm setting. leica could give us a little extra bump there in the 16mm setting. Maybe i should e-mail that request on the 16mm setting
