Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS Posted August 13, 2015 Share #1 Posted August 13, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've got a bunch of dust on my sensor and have tried to clear it with a Blower but still plenty of dust on the sensor. What would you guys recommend I try next.......................... I have never tried wet cleaning or anything other that using a blower?

albireo_double Posted August 13, 2015 Share #2 Posted August 13, 2015 I use blower first and then the Sensor Swab FF spatula with a drop or two of Eclipse. I push the spatula from the centre of the sensor towards the edge, one pass with each side only. If I need to repeat, I use a new spatula. Has worked for me on my S2 for the past nearly 4 years. hoppyman Posted August 13, 2015 Share #3 Posted August 13, 2015 That sounds very like the routine I use for my S2 as well. I found a swab of the correct size from VisibleDust in Canada. "Ultra MXD-100 (Fabric) Green Vswab medium format DSLR (30-33mm). Blower first and check for loose particles is vital. If I use a sensor brush then I wipe it first with a Zeiss lens wipe and am careful to not touch any other part of the chamber. After moistening the edge with 3 drops of Eclipse fluid I start at one edge drawing the swab carefully across to the opposite in a single pass then flexing it for a pass back using the opposite face. Then discard the swab.
Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS Posted August 13, 2015 Share #4 Posted August 13, 2015 I just got one of these Visible Dust Arctic Butterfly 724 Super Bright Digital Camera CCD Cleaning Brush
albertknappmd Posted August 14, 2015 Share #5 Posted August 14, 2015 I use blower first and then Arctic Butterfly. The blower works 90% of time, Blower plus Arctic butterfly gets you up to 95% plus. If need I will then use Eclipse as mentioned above. I advise you to practice your technique on a piece of glass and to use the brush only once and with just enough solvent. Too little and you scratch too much and you flood.. I also you the loop with a light to look for trouble spots prior to brushing, butterflying or brushing. It is very helpful. I follow up by taking a photo of a clear sky at f/16 to confirm complete eradication of dust.... Albert
