This is a marvellous building next to the A40 outside of London. The company I'm currently working for has just moved offices to an estate just around the corner. this is my first effort to try and capture the feel of the old Hoover factory. It was going to be knocked down, but was bought by a supermarket chain a few years ago.

I may bring the M8 down next week to try and get some better shots.

Steve nice detail shot of one of my favourite buildings and only a couple of miles away from me.

You should try and see it at dusk - beautifully lit and a great subject.

Tesco's deserve a pat on the back for all the money they have poured into buying and restoring it. After Hoover moved out in the late 80's it rapidly became an eyesore, vandalised, derelict and in a very sorry state. Thankfully it is a Grade 1 listed building.

Thanks Andy, these were just grab shots - and I regret posting this because of that. The LX2 is ok, but I miss a proper viewfinder.

The building is superb, I drove past it every Friday on my way back home, but now I 'm working around the corner I can try and get a decent photograph of it. I think the M8 will be travelling south with me next Tuesday :-)

I loved seeing this building when I lived in England in the mid '80s

the building had already shown signs of wear, but was a welcome sight for me on the M40 trip to Oxford

I am pleased to learn it has been restored and enjoyed seeing your fine photographs of it

put up some more if you get a chance!

This place used to be a wreck when I drove past it- glad to see that it has been saved. Look forward to seeing the rest of it via your M8.

Another lovely building of similar vintage was the De Haviland office at Hatfield Aerodrome; that all closed down some years ago and was looking a bit sad last time I was there; hope it's been preserved too.

Steve

Lovely detailed shots. I used to live quite close to this building - it was our local Tesco but I also remember the building for years as I grew up in the area.

You should see it from the sky. Unfortunately I had reason to do so many times on endless trips to and from Belgium in the mid-90s. The green flourescent lighting was so intense pilots were rumoured to use it as a marker for making sure they were in line with Heathrow.

I'd really like to go out and photograph the building but I thought..... nah.... difficult to capture. Now I'll have to think again.

Thanks for sharing
