Guy:

How does the 12mm compare in image quality to the 15mm CV? I am thinking of getting the WATE as my 30% off lens and a 12mm would get me even wider when I need it for occasional use.

I have already put the 15mm up for sale with the coded adapter and if the 12mm is at least as good, I might want to drop the price on the 15mm and keep the coded adapter for use with the 12mm. What lens code are you using with the 12mm?

The 12mm is a sweet little lens and i would say very on par with the 15mm. I like having the 12mm and the WATE. Robert you will like the WATE. The 12mm barely vignets also but i probably won't use a IR filter on the 12mm until there is software or John comes up with a good filter adapter. Just turn coding off or on and shoot it works pretty darn nice.

Keep the adapter for the 12mm and mine is for the WATE the code

I urge all of us to look at the Fred Miranda forum; go to the alternative digital cameras and lenses thread, then on to the alternative images sub thread. There is an M8 image there of the inside of a cathedral in Helsinki which was shot by PhotoArne using the M8 with the CV 15 4.5. Can you say WOW! This guy is a genius with any camera frequently using the DMR and 4x5 as well. But what he got with this combination is stunning. Anyone who doubts what Sean Reid has said about this lens must see this image. Do yourself a favor.......then buy the lens!

Woody is right. Get the CV 15. I purchased one from Cameraquest a few weeks ago in anticipation of a trip that I took last week. I am delighted with the way this lens renders both b&w and color. I'm not using a filter yet. This lens really performs in hard contrasty light. I shot everything at f8, no focusing, no finder. Just point and shoot. I'm stunned with the results this lens gives on the M8. I also shot some Kodachrome 64 with the MP which went off to Kansas today for processing.

Don't know where you are coming from here. Photo Arne posted on Fred Miranda for whatever reasons. you may remember because for a long time that is where you posted as well. My point was only to direct interested observers to an image which really displayed the best of what a CV 15 4.5 is capable of. Who the hell cares whether the image is on Miranda, Leica User Forum or whatever. Come on man........you are a pro and one of the best.....get over whatever happened over there some time ago. Keep focussed on the issues......I am sure you remember Arne well as he posted some of the best of the best.....from which we can all learn. Love you man but this is juvenile

Enjoy Paul

I also shoot with the M6 TTL with the CV 15 4.5 and love the results. It is so amazing that $400 can bring so much joy and technology. Hooray to Sean for bringing us results, not technobabble, to clarify the issues and give us choices that are not in the megasphere of prices
