Jeffry Abt Posted July 22, 2015 Share #1 Posted July 22, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) As a mere user of Ms I am trying to get my head around the differences, advantages etc. between a H and HC lens. With the new price drops in the S cameras... I've begun to take note.

Jeffry Abt Posted July 22, 2015 Author Share #2 Posted July 22, 2015 Sorry about miss stating my question. I should have written "CS and non CS lens". Sorry again!
jbl Posted July 23, 2015 Share #3 Posted July 23, 2015 The CS lenses have an integrated leaf shutter. The non-CS lenses don't, so they make use of the focal-plane shutter in the camera. This matters most for work with strobes since your flash sync speed with a leaf shutter lens can be in the neighborhood of 1/800-1/1600 second and this matters a lot for killing ambient light, specifically in broad daylight. You may or may not be interested in that, but that capability is a major advantage of medium format systems. For me, I wouldn't consider non-CS lenses and I don't do that much studio work.
