pico Posted July 14, 2015 Share #21 Posted July 14, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Perhaps I have just been lucky. Kinderman plastic lids are fine for Nikor tanks. Nikor 36exp reels are wonderful ... until the day we drop one and it rings its death knell as it bounces across the floor. .

qvsm Posted July 14, 2015 Author Share #22 Posted July 14, 2015 Many thanks for the helpful replies. I've purchased the stainless tank from Calumet and also reels from Hewes. They seem easy enough to work with, although I'm a few days away from trying them in the changing bag (I got one of the tents to make it a bit easier). Noted about the plastic caps, I have read that over time they can develop radial cracks. I'm hoping given the Calumet gear is new, I'm some time away from that happening. Kindermann tanks are highly regarded seemingly, but hard to find. I'm sure I'd be happy with Paterson also, but I got a great deal on Hewes reels, so... A friend of mine recommended using Ilford Wetting Agent with the final rinse, so had intended to do so. The above accounts/advice shows how people how experiences differ, so guess I'll work it out through my own trial and error. Let's hope I don't forfeit too many rolls in the process If people would find it useful for me to list what I bought and from where, I'd be happy to do so.
