Jeff S Posted July 4, 2015 Share #21 Posted July 4, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Great idea, I never thought of that. Seriously? That's what you and I have been discussing….and you need to take an M to your optician, unless you have a magic VF….or just trust in distances, which I don't recommend. Advertisement Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 Hi Jeff S, Take a look here M's and Glasses. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ColColt Posted July 4, 2015 Author Share #22 Posted July 4, 2015 From what Ive read it may be best to take the actual M model you plan on getting and take a similar one for testing. I'll call a couple of old, been around forever camera shops locally and see if they can put me on to an M2 or M4-those will be the ones I'm looking at. Loved the M2 I had years ago. Jeff S Posted July 4, 2015 Share #23 Posted July 4, 2015 Why not just buy the camera you want and then go through the process? Worst case, sell it or trade it if things don't work out. By the way, not only does our brain not work the same when we get old, our eyes change, too….then we need to revisit the optician….or switch systems. ColColt Posted July 4, 2015 Author Share #24 Posted July 4, 2015 When I started looking at them and what was out there today the first thing that popped up in my mind was the problem with my old FTN's and F2 cameras. I didn't know at the time you could even get replacement diopter lens for the M series. I didn't have this problem with focusing until a couple years back. It was an easy matter with the digital camera to get a good focus but not so with film cameras. I feel sure there's the right diopter out there and you're right, may as well just buy it and go to the optometrist.
ColColt Posted August 1, 2015 Author Share #25 Posted August 1, 2015 I found a super nice M2 that had the CLA treatment by DAG and it should be here about next Friday. I'll see just what I need(if any) in the way of diopters when it gets here and I put the Zeiss 50 f2 Planar lens on it. Who knows, I may not need a thing.
