Guest )-( Posted June 30, 2015 Share #1 Â Posted June 30, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've previously had a 35mm Summicron-R II which I found such a unique lens with its unusually curvy plane of focus. Â I'm thinking on buying one again to use on Sony a7R (I only have M9, not M240) as I really miss the great feeling images from it seemed to possess. Â My question, for anyone familiar with this lens, is if there is an equivalent 35mm lens in M-mount? This would be more convenient to use on M9 as well. Â This is the R lens: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-wiki.en/index.php/35mm_f/2_Summicron-R_II

a911s Posted June 30, 2015 Share #2  Posted June 30, 2015 The 35mm Summicron-R II is unique in its rendering, as you've described. I've tried all the 35 Summicron Ms, and the one that comes closest is the Type IV, but it doesn't have the foreground depth of the R.
Guest )-( Posted June 30, 2015 Share #3 Â Posted June 30, 2015 Thanks. I think that 'foreground depth' might be a key aspect for me, it helps create such incredible depth to close/mid-range shots. Â I might stick with the Cron-R for now and leave a Cron IV in M for another day. I appreciate the feedback.
