wda Posted November 14, 2015 Share #21 Posted November 14, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) ........I could wish for even higher resolution crammed into a X1/X2 body . But the X113 is a very desirable camera. Please also see from my hometown; http://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/253045-blue-is-the-new-white/ The X1 is well specified but noticeably bulkier that X1/X2. Looking at Leica design trends, I am waiting for the next iteration which I expect will have an in-built EVF like the Q. I would accept the extra bulk with that improvement. Wayne Posted November 29, 2015 Share #22 Posted November 29, 2015 Great thread. I have seen a few X1 cameras at very reasonable prices and will probably take the plunge. On the VF issue: Every time I handle a camera like the X1, I think about my first point and shoot Canon digital camera. Back in those days, all of them had that tiny OVF port that, while not anything spectacular, was sure nice to have in certain circumstances. Considering the fact that my first Canon ELF was the smallest digital camera I have ever owned, it stands as a testimonial, the small OVF was/is no obstruction in the design of a small camera. The X1 would replace my Nikon A as a go anywhere camera. I do have the Nikon OVF on the "A;" and, as small and light as it is, the external OVF does convert the camera from a "pocket" camera to something that is a bit larger than a pocket camera. This is not to mention the fact that the "preciousness" of the external OVF means that it presents another significant PIA consideration when I am carrying the "A" around, i.e. being mindful that whatever pocket the camera happens to be in does not also hold other objects like keys or coins. The size and recessed configuration of the small OVF on the ELF made it virtually impossible that other items- except maybe pocket lint- came into contact with it. The above probably does qualify as whining; but I sure do miss those little OVFs. I mean, think about it, if the small OVF were the only difference between two small point and shoot cameras, which one would you pick?......Even if the small OVF cost a few dollars more. flyalf Posted December 1, 2015 Author Share #23 Posted December 1, 2015 Thanks,In a pitch X1 alos works as a landscape camera (one can also improve resolution by stitching). Here is a sample photo with X1 on tripod (not stiched):L1105666 by Alf Sollund, on Flickr
wda Posted December 1, 2015 Share #24 Posted December 1, 2015 Alf, that is a lovely example of using the X1 in landscape. Good visibility also helps to enhance the X1's performance. But even in flat lighting the quality shines through.
robert blu Posted December 7, 2015 Share #25 Posted December 7, 2015 Maybe not exactly replace an M but the X1 can be a good traveling camera, of course a lot depends on your shooting style. I took part in a workshop in Prague whose photos later were used in an exhibition a few years ago with only the X1 and was satisfied of it. A couple of pics here More photos if curious in my blog here and here and in other post.
