Hello

I am new here and I'm sorry if its not the right place to ask this but I couldn't find anything anywhere regarding my question and this forum is the only place it is possible to actually ask something.

I'm not sure if what I'm looking for is possible but I really want it to be.

I have a Leica X Vario that I really want to use as sort of webcam. Basically use some other device or program (monitor/projector/software recorder) to  view whats coming through the lens.

Did anyone manage to do that in the past or is it even possible?

Any suggestions of what I can do or maybe some other places that I can look for help will be most welcome.

Thanks

You will probably have your reasons for using the X Vario as a pretty expensive web cam. However, as far as I understand from the manual (p. 164), the HDMI connection can only be used in "Play" mode, that is, after you recorded a movie. Thus, I would say, "regrettably no".

Best regards, Gerd

Thanks for the quick reply.

Perhaps calling it a webcam is indeed a bit offending to the quality of the camera but I thought that it would be yhe simplest explanation.

What I actually wanted it to do is somehow manage to use it in a live performance show. Basically just capturing the performance and screening it right away on a big projector without any recording at all, and if it would have been possible to bypass a computer on the wat even better. Actually all I need is to use a really big screen as a viewfinder. Since the lens and everything is so high grade and I already own one it would be expected to achive a high quality results easily.

Its a shame that it seems to be impossible to achieve I hoped the results would look really good.
