Maarten_E Posted May 17, 2015 Share #1 Posted May 17, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello everybody! I am Maarten, 21 years old and I am from The Netherlands. I study photography, and I mainly shoot on the street, and (city) landscapes. Just a few years ago, I decided to go for hobby back to 35mm. It was a decision made mainly by the fact that a 35mm filmcamera is way less bulky than a big black DSLR, and shooting with film allows me to be more concious about what I shoot. Also, a relatively small 35mm camera is less offensive to people on the street. For roughly 2 years, I used a Pentax ME Super, quite a nice camera, but to be honest, I was wondering what its like to use a rangefinder camera.. So one day I was looking on 2nd hand websites for used rangefinder cameras, in which I would prefer a Leica. Then I found a black Leica M6, for relatively not much money (800€, 900$). It wasnt used for years, but after getting the seals replaced and the battery replaced she was ready to go! The M6 served as a backupcamera for an other M6, which was used to take pictures of tourists getting on harbour boats. As a lens I have a Voigtländer 35mm f1.4 on it, a great lens to use, and I love the ability to go to f1.4 for that nice out of focus effect. I am still learning with the Leica, but it is a lot of fun working with it, and the quality is amazing. I hope you all liked this introduction, I hope I can learn a lot from you guys! Greetings, Maarten

ayewing Posted May 23, 2015 Share #3 Posted May 23, 2015 Welcome Maarten, It is good to see a new young member joining the Leica fold. It may well be the start of a lifetime addiction. Learning to use film is I think the best way to get to grips with photography. It makes you think about every shot. I hope that you enjoy participating in the forum. Best wishes,
