thebarnman Posted May 8, 2015 Share #1 Posted May 8, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, I've been a member here for a while. It seems before the switch to the new server, when I started or participated a thread or discussion, my settings were set to automatically send email notifications. I do see on the right that I can "follow this topic," but do I always have to do that manually each time now? Also I have noticed (at least so far) when I read a thread, when I click on that thread again, I'm taken to the very first page, not at the last page of the thread where I left off. Related, the links in my email were of older posts possibly before the switchover and were taking me to the start of the thread. Could that problem be because the links were for the old server? Also on this new software, I don't see a history of forums I was following. Is there a way to find those again? Thanks

pop Posted May 8, 2015 Share #2 Posted May 8, 2015 You can control notifications by this forum to a very fine degree (some might find it even bewildering) by using the notification settings panel: Select My Settings in the drop down to the right of your forum name at the top right hand side of the screen: Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! In the page that follows select the Notification Options: ... and there you go.
 Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! pop Posted May 8, 2015 Share #3 Posted May 8, 2015 There are controls which let you select which part of a thread will be shown, but they are somewhat descreet and have to be found first. A typical listing of threads might look like this: Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! (This shows the New Content screen) The bullet in front of the thread name takes you to the first post you haven't read yet. This will only work if you have visited the thread in the new incarnation of the forum; otherwise it does not know which posts you have read using the old software. Star-shaped bullets indicate threads you have contributed to. Clicking on the date to the right hand side of the topic's name takes you to the last post. You don't have to remember that; placing the mouse cursor on those controls will pop up a bubble help (in most environments I have used the forum so far).
