spydrxx Posted May 12, 2015 Share #21 Β Posted May 12, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Use leather cases to transport and protect during transport....not store. If you ever opened a leather suitcase which has been in storage a few years, you'll understand. Likewise use your camera bag to transport, not store. Your best bet is to store cameras and lenses where there is relatively low humidity, free flow of clean air. Use silica gel or drying cabinet if located in a high humidity area. jchfriis Posted May 14, 2015 Share #22 Β Posted May 14, 2015 I live in a tropical climate and was stupid enough to store some 3 rarely used lenses in a bag in a dark cupboard. Then came the rainy season, and with that the fungus inside all these lenses. I was frantic and thought I would have to replace them all. Luckily the local Leica dealer was able to do a CLA and they became like new again. He also sold me drying cabinet so it would not happen again. I keep all my camera gear in this cabinet and I'm no longer afraid of the fungus.
