RogerW Posted April 21, 2015 Share #1 Posted April 21, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) When I bought my CL a year or so ago, the meter worked perfectly —or at least agreed with my hand-held meter. About six months ago the CL meter began to stick or give wild readings. I thought of all the things that have been written about 'that' meter. I 'rested' the CL 2-3 months ago and used my IIf. Picking up the CL last week I find the meter works perfectly —or at least agrees with my hand-held meter again. Can anyone explain this or has experienced something similar? iphoenix Posted April 29, 2015 Share #2 Posted April 29, 2015 Sounds to me like a bit of minor corrosion on one of the electrical slider contacts (happens frequently to radio analogue volume controls). In many cases it can be fixed for a period by exercising the on/off, speed and any other electrical controls there may be. For radio use there is "contact cleaner" available, but it must be used as per instructions. Some will melt adjacent plastics. I've found this useful in renovating radios and, used carefully and in moderation, cameras.
