Advertisement Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Hi Doc Henry, Take a look here The photographers who refuse to abandon traditional film cameras. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
AlanG Posted April 21, 2015 Share #22 Posted April 21, 2015 Because he has more customers buying film or the same number of customers buying more film (or more customers buying more film). Before you suggest that this is a major factor behind why West End Cameras is now selling more film you should know that this shop is very far from being the last game in town and that there are (and have always been) many retail locations in London that stock film. Things might be different in Rochester – I wouldn't know. So this shop is selling more film. But I presume you would not conclude that film sales in general are trending up. I live in Washington DC, not Rochester. In this area most of the camera stores have closed... Penn camera - 5 locations, Ritz Camera... based in Maryland with hundreds of locations nantion wide, Industrial Photo, Calumet Photo, Photo Pro, ProTech, and many more smaller shops. The only camera shops in this region I can think of are Ace Photo... 40 miles away in Ashburn, VA, Pro Photo in DC, Embassy Camera in DC, Dominion Camera in Falls Church, VA (bought by Ace Photo) and Service Photo, 40 miles away in Baltimore. And all the labs except for Dodge in suburban Maryland have closed. Super sized shops that remain, such as B&H in NYC are pretty diversified and are nothing like the local "mom and pop" stores of the past. BTW, even 15 years, ago, I ordered film a dealer in NYC as I could not expect any local shops to stock the sizes, types and quantitities of a single emulsion that I wanted. Doc Henry Posted April 21, 2015 Share #23 Posted April 21, 2015 Alan, the liberal economy now tend to "group" and there are big associations between traders . This is valid everywhere and for every trade digital as film. Sometimes you have to go far to have someone. Fortunately you can buy over the InternetIn France , the film is selling very well like Kodak Portra (confirmed by a seller few days ago). It can be also purchased on site or internet.
