PhilFarber Posted May 16, 2007 Share #1 Posted May 16, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I thought I had read about this, but after searching the forum I couldn't find it. Today my client poited out to me a fine white line running vertical through the images. Is this a bad row of pixels? Is there a fix or does the camera go back for another trip to the motherland. It has spent more time there than with me. This is the start of my busy season and this sure would P me off.

ho_co Posted May 17, 2007 Share #2 Posted May 17, 2007 Phil-- You didn't attach an image, but the way you describe it, it sounds like a column of dead pixels. I've seen a couple posts on the topic. Not a general fault that will be taken care of with firmware. From your discription, it sound as if it's a line about one pixel wide? Dead pixels. Needs replacement, either of the camera or of the sensor. Good luck. I hope someone else differs with this opinion. --HC
RMF Posted May 21, 2007 Share #3 Posted May 21, 2007 You are not alone; I see a thin vertical white faint line occasionally at 640 and above. When it appears it is always in the same place, just off to the left of center. The odd thing is that I don't see it at every 640 and above pics. The line does get increasingly more visible as I step up to 1250 and 2500 iso. At 640, when it is visible, it is barely perceivable. My camera is three weeks new, running 1.102 firmware, processing DNG via Lightroom default import. Since I have not used 1250 iso and up for any real pics (outside of testing) and only have used 640 once, I very doubt that I'll be sending in my camera if this is a sensor problem. Everything else on the camera is running stellar and I'm getting great pics. Phil- Do you see the white lines at all ISO's
RMF Posted May 21, 2007 Share #4 Posted May 21, 2007 Added a pic with the white line present. In the full-size pic the line appears to run from bottom to nearly the top of the frame. This was shot at 640 iso, DNG, Imported into Lightroom, Cropped and saved out as a jpg. M8 is new, using 1.102 firmware, shutter speed about 500th at f 1.2. Welcome, dear visitor! chris_tribble Posted May 21, 2007 Share #5 Posted May 21, 2007 Have you tried processing the RAW in another engine? I use Lightroom and haven't had this problem with either of my bodies, but I am aware that C1 can produce surprisingly different output - worth a try before you have to give the body back to Solms...
