Hello Jack - welcome to the forum!

The first shot has promise, but if it were mine, I'd have a go at straightening the verticals (without messing up the horizon, of course ;) ). Might benefit from some curves, or levels adjustment too.

The second one shows signs of camera shake - what shutter speed did you use?

Got any more?

Thanks for the welcome and your comments, Andy. Must have been too long of a day and then trying to work out the new software. Yes (and VERY obvious) the second has excessive camera shake (Aperature priority f8 @ 1/5 second)--can't seem to edit it off the post. I played a bit with the 1st and included another. Thanks again for your keen eye. Jack

Yes, welcome Jack. I disagree with Andy about the converging verticals. I prefer the original, as it more closely approximates how I reckon an observer would see it. Mind you, there is no right or wrong here, just preference, so stick with what you like.

I suspect the image is a little magenta. Check by looking at the roadway. I reckon with all that greenery around, the road would cop a bit of 'filtering' in reality. Of course you were there, so are the final arbiter in that as well.

Thanks, Erl. I have been trying to come to terms with parallel verticals for this shot and opt for something closer to the original . . . thanks for your opinion. Correct again, a slight adjustment in magenta balanced the road to the greenery better. I've started the road to this digital (photo) environment and although I see it as a potentially long journey, I'm not turning back.

Best,

Jack
