dkCambridgeshire Posted April 5, 2015 Share #4 Posted April 5, 2015 Could some of you post photos made with the 16mm fisheye. . .I'm trying to determine if this lens fits my style. Thank you! If you want to use the lens on the M240 (or any other M camera) a cheaper option than buying the 16mm Fisheye Elmarit R is to buy the Minolta MC or MD 16mm lens and use it with a Minolta to M adaptor. The Minolta and Leitz/Leica fisheye lenses are optically identical. I use a Minolta fisheye on my MM and focus by scale … with a cheapo Lomo fisheye finder in the accessory shoe. Regarding whether or not a fisheye lens might suit your style, using a fisheye can be ad-hoc or measured or a combination of both. There are some very interesting YouTube videos which demonstrate a fisheye's capabilities and in the right hands, its creative liberties. Gene Ho's 'Art of the Fisheye' is worth a look and applies to all fisheye lenses dunk

Hugh 38 Posted April 20, 2015 Share #6 Posted April 20, 2015 I did post a reply a few days ago but it appears to have got lost. I bought the 16mm fish eye at the end of 2007 and before I did I asked around for peoples opinions. They ranged from ; worthless gimmik , make sure you get a good one , good for photographing inside of tanks , and perhaps the most important do not over do it. I boughtthe lens and I like it , but be carefull with it and do not put too many pictures ina slide show taken with it as your audience will tire of it . I regard it a a modern lens. For example a few years ago I took it on holiday to the Mediteranean . It was good in Barcelona with some of the modern sculptures etc. It also worked on some parts of the ship , Oceana i was traveling on . Oceana came into service about 2002 and has some interesting modern features on it. However I took the lense into Florence and feel it did not work with the more traditional clasical buildings. Also the lense is no good with flash , nless you have some guns with very wide coverage to match the lens. With a bit of luck 3 pictures will appear below . A street sculpture in Barcelona on a traffic island , surounded by fast traffic. With the fish eye I got right inside the sculpture . Note the pavement. Then a sports area on Oceana by the funnel Vey difficult to take with a flat field lens. Then a busy scene in FLorence. The picture captures how busy the place was , but I dislike the curved buildings : The pictures were taken on Kaodachrome 64 , Leicaflex SL2 , Elamirit 16mm fisheye . Welcome, dear visitor!
