Question before buying used: Screen remaining off after turning on

Hello - this is my first post here.

Today I wanted to buy a used T with kit lens and M-adapter. Initially I played with the zoom and everything was fine. Then I tried the adapter.

We carefully turned the camera off before installing adapter and M-lens and everything worked fine. We then carefully turned the camera off and removed the combination and put on the zoom lens back on.

When I then turned on the camera the screen did not turn on...

The sales rep could not find out what was going on. He then popped out the battery and re-inserted it and then the screen came on fine, but now the viewfinder did not come on!

Neither he nor I could find out what was going on and I left without it.

I do not know which version of the firmware is installed.

Has anybody experienced anything similar?

Is it a documented problem “just” waiting for a firmware update (or is the update already there)?

Or could someone maybe suggest what I should try on the camera?

Thanks

AnnaBB

It might be a 1.3 vs. 1.31 thing.

I have both the Novoflex and the Leica adapter. I remember a glitch with the screen the very first time I have attached the Leica adapter. Resetting solved everything back then and meanwhile I have used the T on at least 5 occasions since the upgrade to 1.31 and I switch quite frequently between the M lenses and the Summicron-T.

I have lost track of the proper sequence of events, to be honest. But I can report that right now and with firmware 1.31 I do not have any issues with the adapter.

Thanks Bernie - that is worth trying out.

..perform a camera "reset" & restart the camera. if an evf is attached, make sure the eyepiece isn't covered by your hand as the lcd screen will automatically shut off (because it thinks you have the camera to your eye) until it's uncovered.
