As many realize how wide a effective 15mm is there is always going to be a little room for cropping if not a very critical setup going , so even if the extreme corners are off having a effective 16 or 17 mm will still be awesome. For me there is a big difference between 15 or 16 to 21mm and it may not sound like a lot a 4 or 5mm difference but in practice it is a huge difference

Hi Guy,

With a 60 (or maybe a 55 very close to the lens) we should be able to get captures with no hard vignetting at all. So, then we won't need to crop out those far corners.

Little more worried about the cyan cast but a PS action or a Raw developer tool than we should be fine. I was just thinkng in worst case scenerio which would still be excellent

Hi Guy,

The center is neutral so there's no cyan cast <G> but the cyan drift itself should be fixable with software. It can be tricky though because cyan drift varies in color according to lighting source, etc. You're right that the worst case scenario should be manageable but there's no reason for any hard vignetting at all with the right size filter.

Best,

Sean

We just need to stay with standard filter size like 55 or 60 depending on what works best so we can at least obtain those sizes from Leica or B+W. Having a 58mm or a non standard size we should avoid at all costs.

That's exactly what I was thinking and that's why I thought the next step after 55 would be the 60. The interesting thing with the 12 is that we don't necessarily need to stick with the Leica filters because the in-camera corrections (designed for the Leica filters) don't work for the 12 anyway. So the correction has to start from scratch in any case.

Francisco, nicely done... I'm about to get the lens myself. Did you go out of your way to keep the view level - I worry about distortion of the horizontals with this wide of an angle. BTW, looks like Sandia Peak in Albuquerque... and maybe the Four Hills Country Club? Thx...

I love this lens especially for B&W without filter.

This picture is from this afternoon.

I know I tend to go overboard with PP if it's not work related.:D

Kind regards,

Etienne

Great photo Seyhun, that 12 sure is wide!

Thanks.

It is also very sharp in the middle 1/3-2/3 portion. I hadn't expected that when I bought it.

Therefore a great lens with a nice price tag.

I had a CV15mm in ther past. It used to give strong greenish corners. For some reason CV12 is nearly perfect, even without a filter.
