M6 When Advancing the Flash Pops - What's Up With That?

Hello esteemed Leicaists!

I've been using my M6's with a pc cord and flash for decades...literally. And suddenly one of the bodies has become unpredictable. When I shoot with the pc cord attached to a flash it will fire when asked, but then as I advance the film it will pop a time or two more. A fresh cord and still the same. A test on the other M6's I have (and an M7 and a M6ttl) and they all are fine...this one...not so much.

Is the handwriting on the wall? Does it need a visit to the camera doctor?

Open to suggestion.

And thanks for a great forum. Good information, good people.

Michael

If the pc socket isn't loose, then over the years of pluging and unpluging a sync cord part of it has been pushed in far enough that the motion of advancing the film is causing contact. Have you tried just using the hot shoe to see if you get the same results? Either way it sounds like a trip to put things straight.

Thanks for this. I use the hot shoe quite a bit and it had no issues. And I definitely agree, it is as though there is something loose that completes a circuit when I advance.

Love these cameras.
