Focusing with Macro Adapter

I recently purchased the 'Leica Macro Set M' locally second hand. The 90mm Macro-Elmar works very well and focuses accurately on my M-E.

However, this evening I was playing around with the Macro adapter for the first time, and I noticed that the focus point is slightly twisted - a straight line is skewed by maybe 5 degrees, meaning that when the image is focused, I still see two images, one slightly rotated on the other.

Whilst it's still possible to work out what the focus point should be, and get sharp images, I'm guessing it shouldn't be like this. Any suggestions as to what the problem or the fix is? I tried the adapter on my M6 as well, and it exhibits the same problem.

I think you need an M240 with EVF/LV, and only for lenses longer than 28. There is no RF coupling.

I think you're referring to the 'new' Macro adapter M, and not the Macro set M which includes the 'old' M Macro Adapter. Confusing naming ;) sorry for not being clearer but I assumed that was understood by the fact I am using the adapter with the M-E and the M6.

Your post reads as if the lens (presumably without the adapter) worked well with with your cameras (as it should), but not the adapter. I assumed that was because the macro adapter (current term) wasnt designed for your gear. I'm used to reading about 'goggles' for the old set.

Carry on.

Just to update this thread, I bought myself a two tip spanner wrench on eBay DSLR DC Camera Lens 2 tip Spanner Wrench Repair Opening Open Tools | eBay and adjusted the rangefinder window on the macro adapter as per the instructions in the linked thread. Result: Nicely aligned focusing patch and sharp results :)
