pvak Posted January 12, 2015 Share #1 Â Posted January 12, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) We are midway through January and there are no indications that Leica is releasing the Tele and Wide zooms for the T. Any recent rumours out there?

Athornton Posted January 12, 2015 Share #4 Â Posted January 12, 2015 My Leica dealer had a call from Germany last Friday asking how many lenses he wanted. He said he expected to get a delivery this week.
pvak Posted January 13, 2015 Author Share #5 Â Posted January 13, 2015 If they are going to be available next week in Europe then the US and Canada cannot be too far behind. I guess, hopefully, by the end of the month.

dennyg Posted January 14, 2015 Share #7 Â Posted January 14, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I pre-ordered the Vario-Elmar-T 55-135mm from B&H a couple of months ago and have not heard anything yet. At the time, they said it would be available early January but now they only say "coming soon".

thighslapper Posted January 17, 2015 Share #10 Â Posted January 17, 2015 Both lenses appeared this morning ......very nice indeed .... a good solid Leica feel ..... image quality on first impressions seems excellent and AF fast and accurate. Â .... but I do start to wonder about size an portability...... Â The T plus the 3 zooms is beginning to look .... in size space taken up and weight ....much like an M with a selection of (near) comparable primes. Â Looks like it will be M + T body as back-up or T plus zooms alone for me when travelling ..... which poses some difficult decisions.... as the M is a far better camera .... Â Those sensible enough to have the T alone will be delighted with these .....
bencoyote Posted January 17, 2015 Share #11 Â Posted January 17, 2015 Thighslapper would you mind answering my quandary about the max aperture when fully zoomed in for both of those lenses. The name of the lenses doesn't match the data sheet. For example the data sheet has a MTF chart for 135mm at f/3.5 but the name suggests it's fastest aperture,is f/4.5. Â When I am traveling (certainly depending on where I'm going and what I'm doing), I can usually pare down my kit considerably. Mostly it seems to matter more what I am carrying vs what I brought. I seldom just see a shot where I need to whip out my telephoto lens or very wide lenses. Those are more things which are planned. Let us know about your experiences and choices and your experiences with these new lenses. You're the first person who seems to have them.
thighslapper Posted January 17, 2015 Share #12  Posted January 17, 2015 @135 this afternoon ....... very pleased ....  the default shutter speeds on auto are a joke (like the A7s) but in Leica's case unnecessarily high ...... I have taken to using shutter priority with the 55-135.... even after a night on the tiles I don't need 1/400 at 135 (equiv. to 200)  .... and yes Ben ...... max aperture at 135 is 4.5  Bit disappointed with the 1m minimum focus ..... but a Marumi Achromat will take you down to about 30 and 10cm (+3 and +5 .... the latter looks like 1:1 to me at 135). Will definitely get a pair for the 55-135 lens ( with a 60-62 step up ring) Welcome, dear visitor!
