Lenshacker Posted January 4, 2015 Share #21 Â Posted January 4, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Shoot some boring pictures of a brick wall, or fence slats. Try to line the camera up to be parallel with the flat object that you select. Decentered elements will cause uneven focus at the edges.
Advertisement Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Hi Lenshacker, Take a look here What is this on this lens?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
pico Posted January 4, 2015 Share #22 Â Posted January 4, 2015 Place an opaque piece of tape over the very top line, and look again. Have the other two lines disappeared? .
bocaburger Posted January 4, 2015 Share #23 Â Posted January 4, 2015 I own that version 28. Bought it for $600 because there's a ~2mm hairline cleaning scratch in the front coating. I have never seen any evidence of that scratch in pictures. The 4th version 28 is one of the most flare-free lenses in Leica's stable. I would shoot it and if you don't see anything out of whack, keep it and don't bother paying to have it serviced. Of course you've got nothing to lose by trying to obtain a partial refund. A miller Posted January 4, 2015 Author Share #24  Posted January 4, 2015 Hi Pico - The internal reflections have got me beat, and I am not having much luck trying to cover the place on the lens where the first instance of the long and short line show up. Having said this, when i articulate the lens, the second and third instances of the lines move toward the center of the lens. This seems pretty clearly to be reflections. I sent the pics to Youxin Ye last night and he also thought they were reflections and functionally benign.  I'll see how the images come  Thanks very much for your time on this.
