norm_snyder Posted May 11, 2007 Share #1 Posted May 11, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Has anyone had any experience with the M-Rokkor 28mm on an M8? I seem to remember from years ago that if one can be found without the white flecks, that it is a pretty good lens. Also, can't it be modified to key the proper frames on the M8? Maybe Sean or someone else has tried it. They seem to be comparatively inexpensive, and might be a stopgap, while I wait for a [forever backordered] Summicron-or maybe would be worth living with for a while, if it lives up to its previous reputation. Advertisement Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 Hi norm_snyder, Take a look here 28mm M-Rokkor on M8?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
howard_cummer Posted May 11, 2007 Share #2 Posted May 11, 2007 Norm, I went through two or three 28mm Rokkors and in one case Minolta replaced the flecking front element for free! The 28mm Rokkor is about as good as a third generation 28mm Elmarit - at least that is what my tests showed me. I think the Rokkor brought up the proper frame lines on my M6 - but this is going by memory - so someone may correct me - but if I'm right, if you get a good one, it should work fine on the M8 with the proper framelines. norm_snyder Posted May 12, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted May 12, 2007 Howard-- Thanks for the input. This lens seems like a lot of trouble, and not really a good deal, in comparison to the 28mm Ultron, which is less costly. While quite compact, it seems a poor stopgap while awaiting a Summicron currently on order. Thanks for the response, and saving me some trouble.
