adi sudarsono Posted August 11, 2006 Share #21 Posted August 11, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, Congratulations on the new forum. It is much quicker and easier than the last while keeping the good characters of the last. This tread is much appreciated for us newbies before plunging into the main stream. Now a question, I have some Leica R lens I bought after my LC1 died last January, namely 21/4, 50/2, 90/2 and 135/2.8 all serial numbers 2.000.000 - 2.500.000ish. All old but all in top condition (not because I was lucky but because that's what is expected from Leica gear). Some people say I can use all R lens on all Leica SLRs. Some others say things like ROM, cams and their combination that is possible with SLs or Rs. Which is correct? What I also want to know is can I put my lens on R8s or R9s with the DMR? Maybe there is lost in automation or flash communication. But can I put them there and shoot with aperture priority or manually or cannot be done? Thank you for your attention and response. Advertisement Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 Hi adi sudarsono, Take a look here For NEWBIES Only!!!. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Angora Posted August 19, 2006 Share #22 Posted August 19, 2006 Hi, you can use all your lenses on every R (for R8/9 : with or without DMR), if they're 3 cams or ROM. A 2-cams one could damage the metering system, if I remember. Leicaflex/SL/SL2 can be fed with 2 ou 3 cams lenses.
danmitch Posted August 19, 2006 Share #23 Posted August 19, 2006 Hi - I am a frequent reader but a rare post-er - had about 50 posts in total on the old forum over a couple of years. The new forum is great - there seems to be a more relaxed tone in many threads. I will go back to reading again and hope to post a few pics again once I have set up the film scanner which is still boxed after moving home! n8b Posted August 21, 2006 Share #24 Posted August 21, 2006 I know the fundamental differences between the MP and the M7- but what have been your real world experiences been between the two? I like to shoot anything and everything that catches my eye. Is the AE feature in the M7 worth it? Do I need to use a hand held meter with the MP or is the meter in the camera good enough? Thanks! abrewer Posted August 21, 2006 Author Share #25 Posted August 21, 2006 Just a reminder.... This thread is for the new users, hopefully the never-before-used members, to limber up and get to know each other. And also a reminder that the more technical questions, or ones that you want to draw on information from the experienced users here, are likely to be better-answered on the open Forum of your choice. Keep the ball rolling, newbies! Thanks. Allan
n8b Posted August 21, 2006 Share #26 Posted August 21, 2006 Sorry- I am a newbie. This will be my first RF or Leica for that matter. I just did my research and so I thought I'd ask a newbie question about what the forum members think between the MP and the M7. Thanks!
abrewer Posted August 21, 2006 Author Share #27 Posted August 21, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Sorry- I am a newbie. This will be my first RF or Leica for that matter. I just did my research and so I thought I'd ask a newbie question about what the forum members think between the MP and the M7. Thanks! No problem. Just remember the constraints I put on this thread are going to limit your answer to those of other newcomers like yourself. Why not post it on the Customer Forum as a "New Topic"? Or if you still feel a little timid about authoring a thread, you can always search the archives too! Welcome, at any rate, to the Forum! Thanks. iaingovan Posted August 21, 2006 Share #28 Posted August 21, 2006 Hi, Thanks for the welcome Allan - I'll say hello to all! I've been following the forum for a few months now, enjoying some of the input & pics from others & not least yourself. I'm based here in the UK (Hampshire, England - originally from Scotland) Leica M was always a desire since I got into photography about 20 years ago - it seemed an impossible dream then as a student - things move on - recently my wife treated me to a special 40th birthday present of a new MP and I've added 35, 50 'cron. *Very* much enjoying using this machine after several years of digital SLRs - hopefully can contribute some pics before too long... Look forward to talking to you all, and thanks for all the experience you have shared and I have read on the forum. Cheers, /Iain
dimsum_boy Posted August 22, 2006 Share #29 Posted August 22, 2006 Hi! I'm new to the forum and I think it's great to have a place on the internet to discuss Leicas. I am in the market for a new digital camera and decided on a d-lux 2. I am having some trouble finding them for sale since they've recently been discontinued, so any recommendations or suggestions are greatly appreciated. I'm looking forward to getting a great camera and participating more in this forum. Thanks and if anyone has any buying tips ot photography advice, please don't hesitate to drop me a a private message or reply to me. Thanks again and hello.
