Advertisement Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Hi uroman, Take a look here WATE +/- 6 bot coding. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Rick Posted December 2, 2014 Share #2 Â Posted December 2, 2014 I thought all WATE lenses were coded. The lens was designed for the M8 to give roughly 21-28mm equivalent. Being a lens designed for the digital M I would have thought they all started out coded? Â Also, being a new design from scratch, Leica chose to make the lens telecentric which is why it works so well in the corners on digital sensors including the M digital cameras. Other Leica wides in this range never seem as sharp in the corners to me.

I have two such lenses with Leica now, one 2/35 ASPH and one 3.4/135. It costs about 239 Euros with focus optimisation.
01af Posted December 2, 2014 Share #4 Â Posted December 2, 2014 How hard is it to request Leica to 6-bit-code a lens? It's totally easy. Just ask. Â Â I am considering a non-6-bit-coded WATE. As far as I know, non-six-bit-coded Tri-Elmar-M 16-18-21 mm Asph lenses don't exist.
