David Monkhouse Posted May 10, 2007 Share #1 Posted May 10, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) A second attempt at posting. Taken with the D-LUX 3 and with the new M8 without IR filters. Does anyone know how long they take to arrive. And am I right in thinking that the lack of an IR filter affects the greens. I have to say the shots are how I remember them in the viwfinder but my experience with the M8 is limited and many thanks for the help in getting started. This is much better than waiting for the slides and I can't hear the snoring! PS, my gallery is at Zenfolio | David Monkhouse David...
Advertisement Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 Hi David Monkhouse, Take a look here try again, D-Lux 3 and M8. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
steve kessel Posted May 10, 2007 Share #2 Posted May 10, 2007 David Having looked at your site and being a D-Lux 2 owner, I am full of admiration for your work with your D-Lux 3, both flowers and landscapes. And you have some garden too. Great stuff. Steve.
David Monkhouse Posted May 10, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted May 10, 2007 Steve, Thanks for the kind comments, the D-LUX 3 is superb for flowers shots. I've had an M6 for many years with the 35mm summicron and 90mm elmarit but digital is so instant and getting a result doesn't need a darkroom which I've never had which is why I have the M8. Even if I had a close focusing lens which I don't, the M8 is not for close ups. Flower photography is certainly easier at "arms length". So a bigger Lowepro bag will be purchased tomorrow to hold all three items. I think it unlikly I will ever used a slide film again. I've just discovered that the Epson P3000, which I intend getting when funds allow, will put AV on my television! No more rearranging the furniture to position the screen. best wishes, David... steve kessel Posted May 11, 2007 Share #4 Posted May 11, 2007 David I'm pretty much a novice at photography. I got the D-Lux 2 in March 06. Before that my photos were usually indifferent and not having control over film processing, largely gave up on the whole thing. Now with digital, the quality of the D-Lux and the range of options it offers I've becopme an enthusiast. Perhaps perversely, I do everything manual, including focus. With flowers, I find that with manual focus, at full aperture and wide angle, one can get sharpness from as close as 5cm (much closer than the manual states). This has proved useful for taking pictures in the garden after coming hoe from work when the light is going down. Best Wishes. Steve.
