drkrap Posted November 28, 2014 Share #1 Posted November 28, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Was thinking about buying the Typ109, but wanted to ask how has the support for new firmwares on the DLUx series has been. I read somewhere that Panasonic was bad at throwing new firmwares after a new product came out.
Advertisement Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 Hi drkrap, Take a look here Question about new firmwares on D-lux. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
visoflex Posted January 8, 2015 Share #2 Posted January 8, 2015 Depends on what you mean by "bad". Bad as in lots of updates to correct problems, or bad as in not releasing updates for enhancements. I believe that there has only been one update since the camera was released, and now has been superceded.
pelmen Posted January 12, 2015 Share #3 Posted January 12, 2015 I agree with visoflex. I have both the LX3 and DLux6. Panasonic released a bunch of updates for the LX3 and i think Leica only one for the dlux6. I both cases I consider them to be supporting the firmware updates well. The LX3 had a few niggling issues (more with usability) which Panny addressed, the DLux6 is great the way it is, both cameras have served me well and were never released full of bugs anyway.New features via firmware is nice but typically they are not really practical or essential. My three Pannys have all worked as expected, nothing what I would consider a "bug" effecting my use, none of the camera ever failed in any way beyond user error Couldn't have asked for anything more.
