aaulbach Posted November 15, 2014 Share #1 Â Posted November 15, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) When I turn on my V-Lux 40 I now get the error message: System Error (Zoom). No functionality is available. Â I have had the camera for over two years and used it extensively... Â Does anyone on the forum have any idea what this message means? What can I do about it? Â Thanks, Al Aulbach

Penzes Posted November 16, 2014 Share #2 Â Posted November 16, 2014 Irreparable issue, at least in my case, Leica told me, that I have to send it in and it was exchanged to a newer Leica C (Typ 112). I had guaranty on my V-Lux, but most of the time, Leica is quite forgiving with the time periods for guaranty. Call Leica Customer Service directly! Â Good luck! Penzes Posted November 17, 2014 Share #4 Â Posted November 17, 2014 I have looked at the documents, they told me, due to missing spare parts they are not able to repair the camera. Â Please keep us updated, it could be probably for others useful info as well. Good luck!

aaulbach Posted November 23, 2014 Author Share #7 Â Posted November 23, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I could not get beyond the error each time I turned the camera on, so I removed and replaced the battery several times to no avail. Â The Leica repair facility told me to send it in, but said they have no parts. After inspection they will contact me with three options for replacement: (1) A new Leica C, red or light gold (2) A new D-Lux (Type 109) for $600 (3) A new A new V-Lux (Type 114) of $700. Â I have a D-Lux 4 that is still working, but found the zoom on my V-Lux 40 often came in very handy when impromptu opportunities present themselves. Therefor, I will probably end up giving myself the Type 114 for Christmas. Â I appreciate any suggestions and insights I receive, Al Aulbach Albuquerque, NM
aaulbach Posted January 19, 2015 Author Share #8 Â Posted January 19, 2015 Update: my new V-Lux (Type 114) will be arriving this week! Just in time for our next trip.
aaulbach Posted February 13, 2015 Author Share #9 Â Posted February 13, 2015 Well, it took a couple of extra weeks (mix up in shipping), but my V-Lus Typ 114 arrived yesterday. It will take time to get used to it - it doesn't fit in my coat pocket like the V-Lux 40! The manual is immense...it would be nice if I could click on table of contents listing to go directly to the page without scrolling forever (a typical function).
