jamriman Posted November 14, 2014 Share #23 Posted November 14, 2014 If anyone knows where I can get one I'd appreciate it. Made the mistake of opening my big mouth and not grabbing a recent one on eBay. Thanks.

jamriman Posted November 23, 2014 Share #25 Posted November 23, 2014 Got one. I find the focusing pretty stiff. Needs a lube or is that normal? Thanks! Welcome, dear visitor! bideford Posted November 23, 2014 Author Share #26 Posted November 23, 2014 I would say mine is not so much stiff, but more heavily damped - similar to my other Canon LTM lenses. I find it suits the size and weight of the lens nicely. Not bad stopped down either: Leica M(240) and Canon 85mm 1.8 @ f/8 James
pico Posted November 24, 2014 Share #27 Posted November 24, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Originally the lens was compliant, so it is likely that lubricant oxidation is an issue; as it usually is.
John Black Posted November 28, 2014 Share #28 Posted November 28, 2014 I've had several Canon 100mm F2 Serenars, one was stiff. Can't remember the other. My current one has a very light action. Very smooth focus action / feel. Turning the aperture is on the stiff side of the spectrum. The stiffish aperture ring was common across all three lenses. iaeaix Posted January 2, 2015 Share #30 Posted January 2, 2015 Used to have couple of these Canon teles, sold them because the weight does not balance well with a M, all good lens in terms of character and performance though. The only one I kept is the 100/3.5, very light like a cigar and too cheap to bother to sell.

Just plopped my 85/1.8 on the scale with rear cap and shade+ 509grams 75 lux with rear cap and cap + 625 LOL The 85/1.8 was much lighter than previous canons, but I think it was the first real "telephoto", the earlier 1.9 and 1.5 were longer and not technically teles. cwolffensperger Posted January 4, 2015 Share #33 Posted January 4, 2015 I've got a canon 85/1.5. It's a really nice lens, a little soft wide open but with a nice glow to it. Difficult to focus accurately correct on my IIIa (user problem I'm afraid ;-)), but better on the M3. Maybe it needs some CLA, because the mechanism is quite stiff too. So not really an action lens... Only problem with it is its weight... Like you've put a concrete thing on your camera, so it's quite out of balance. A spectacular lens IMHO, around 1.5K made I doubt 900 survive. I have a very nice copy and have been using it quite a bit Canon Superspeed 85 by unoh7, on Flickr L1023101 by unoh7, on Flickr At around 500USD, if you ever see one, one of the great steals in LTM, bar none. It's fine WO, far underrated, but seldom calibrated. LOL. By f4 it;s a seriously sharp lens.

markforce Posted September 9, 2015 Share #36 Posted September 9, 2015 Got mine on Monday. Nice looking copy, feels good/solid. First couple of tests turned out pretty nice, sharp wide open. I believe I am going to have some good fun with it. Will post a pic or two. Welcome, dear visitor! pico Posted October 20, 2015 Share #37 Posted October 20, 2015 Let's see if I can make this work - the same lens on an M4. Low resolution to be kind to download. The delivered print was ~40x40 inches.
