As I arrived at the Kentucky Derby I noticed that there were at least eight different professional photographers with M 8's (Crome..Black...50's...28's....35's....) Yes, that is right real working pros with M 8's around their necks to shoot features at the Derby.

And yes, I had my M 8 right there with the others ready to do what was needed in the feature department.

Then there was the aux. media work room...where I had about five of my associates ask if they could handle and shoot my M 8. My answere was yes ,no Problem...Only one catch and that was if you break it, drop it spindle or staple it than you just brought it...NO QUESTIONS ASKED!

After we got by that problem..my M 8 became the lets see Gary for the use of the Bling M 8. Actually three of my associates ordered cameras after thay got home on Monday (WOW!)

Then we turned to lenses and I thought I would have some fun..They asked what lense I was using and I said a 50mm f1.5 NOKTON!.

They asked if that was bout $3500.00 and was compleatly shocked when I told them that it cost only $343.00 + $50.00 for an M adapter ring.

Well that is the first part of the M 8 story for May, and I am attaching a few images from the Derby and my 28 and 50.

More to follow

PS Sorry about that last image, I guess that it just got in there and as you can see that when using release 1.102 the colors are great!

Gary--

Hmm. Looks like the features business is a bit less tense than taking the M8 to Iraq! Long live earbuds and nail polish!

The camera seems to be geetting around. Nice report. And nice shot of the Derby crowd.

Hi Gary,

It's great to hear further evidence that this camera is indeed being used by pros. Many people have a hard time believing that. How did you find it in the rain? What kind of exposure to the water did it get?

Cheers,

Sean

Hi Sean

Actually the M8 held up very well in the rain, I am in the process of contacting the people at AQUATECH Rain Covers (They make all of the covers I and many other pros use on our Canon and Nikon equiptment) during thoes times that shooting in heavy rain or dust is a must.

Exposure to water is simple (don't get wet) but if you have to I shot at ISO 320 -1/3 WB Daylight at 1/4000.

Some other samples with the Nikton 50mm 1.5

And yes it is all about the HATs!

Best

Gary
