Hello Everyone,

It has been over a year since I was last here. I strayed for a while as I experimented with the Sony a7r. I must say it is a very nice camera but I missed the RF experience and the Leica quality. I just acquired an M(240)-P and I am delighted. To me, the biggest improvement over my M9 is that the shutter is earily quiet. I have no other digital camera that even comes close (except my iPhone and that doesn't count).

I'm looking forward to catching up on the forum .

Most most welcome MEB.

Stories like yours "coming backs" can be seen everywhere, I had many on the XVario side as well:-)

So, if I understand well, you were an M9 user before going to Sony, and now you came back as an M240 user right?

Is there anything you miss from the M9 "picture wise in particular? I'm not interested in other feature of the M240 other than Picture IQ, nor it's Hi ISO capabilities, all that understood but what about IQ at base ISO, does the M240 DNGs has the same character or that special "thing" the M9 produce?

XVarior,

The short answer to your question is that I have not yet formed an opinion on any difference between the picture quality of the M9 compared to the photos of the M (or, for that matter, to the Sony a7r) because I haven't taken enough shots to make a fair comparison.

I will try in the future to make some relevant observations on that point.

It's always tempting to stray from the M series, what with the cost and incremental increases in size and weight, and today there seem like a lot of options. I had a Panny G1, now have a Nex6. They make great backups, saving the cost of a second M body, but as the main shooter that optical rangefinder/viewfinder is still what keeps me in the fold.

And yes the M240 is as quiet as one would expect from a mirrorless camera. Finally.
