costakarl Posted October 8, 2014 Share #1 Â Posted October 8, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) These models including an 'as new' one I just bought seem to be prone to chipping in the paint. Â Any explanation for this?
masjah Posted October 8, 2014 Share #2  Posted October 8, 2014 These models including an 'as new' one I just bought seem to be prone to chipping in the paint. Any explanation for this?  Yes, I think it has a sort of ceramic finish applied on the magnesium base metal, which is rather brittle. Mine, which I bought new, has got a very minor chip (which I think happened simply when I knocked a lens in it accidently whilst mounting/removing). costakarl Posted October 9, 2014 Author Share #3 Â Posted October 9, 2014 Thanks for the comment. Â I mixed two Tamiyacolor modelling paints metallic grey xf-56 and silver chrome x-11 and came up with a pretty decent approximation of the original. Â Bit of a fiddly exercise but the chips have gone on 2 cameras.
