Good kind of noise @ ISO 320

Before I used an M8, I was often looking around for visual examples of what distinguishes this camera from other digitals. Now that I'm more familiar with it, I count the luminance noise in shots taken at ISO 320 and 640 to be one of its great strengths. For example, this is a throwaway image taken at Brooklyn Bridge Banks with a Zeiss 28 at ISO 320. The two 100% crops demonstrate the nice texture up close.

A strength but also a weakness... The luminance noise in the darker areas (pants, t shirt and black grill under the bridge) deserves some mild correction as the luminance noise pattern is soemwhat disturbing... I would teak it a bit while leaving some to preserve the contrast. :) Notice that there is absolutely no COLOR noise in any portion of the file.

This shot was also equalized with fill light in Lightroom to take the edge of the high contrast of the scene. What's amazing is that even with a stop or two added to the mids, the luminance noise retains so much detail and adds nice grain.
