Loplop Posted October 4, 2014 Share #41 Posted October 4, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have the X113 since last Tuesday. Just to put some of your unsubstantiated statements straight. IQ is nice, up to Leica standard. Yet any of the fixed focal length lenses of either of the Sigma DP Merrills can easily hold its own in comparison. IQ wise, the Sigma Merrills run circles around the X113, without a sweat. And yes, I like the X113, it`s fun to shoot and IQ is good. But there a few fixed lens cameras in the market which trump its IQ. I owned the dp1m and tried a dp2m for a bit. In good light, the Merrill cameras are fantastic, the best I've seen from digital. I struggled with them at anything over base ISO, though; IQ and color drop quickly, and above iso 400 was unpleasant at times, imo. My XV at 50 and 70 gets very, very close to the Merrill IQ, with a far larger envelope of acceptable performance. My particular XV isn't as stellar (although perfectly acceptable) at 28 and 35. I think my 113 will be as good as my XV at its best, but I haven't had it long enough to form a full opinion yet. The Merrill bodies have poorer haptic controls, and AF wasn't all that quick. I didn't hate the bodies, but they don't "flow" like the leica. Yes, put them on a tripod in good light and almost nothing can touch them. But photography for me isn't often a tripod and good light. So the leica cameras are really a godsend, with nearly the same IQ and a far larger envelope of performance. And don't forget the pain of the sigma work flow. Many hours editing with poor software vs SOOC ease of the leica. All that being said: I am likely buying another Merrill... for the Times when they're good, they are SO good! I really do love them. At their current street prices, they are a steal.

And what MTA values did you get for the corners ?
