XVarior Posted September 15, 2014 Share #1 Posted September 15, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Leica just posted a firmware update on it's site. just downloaded it and at first I tried to double click it in order to extract the firmware as interactions dicts but that didn't work on my Mac running Pre-Public OS version Yosemite" then I was told that the OS is uncompressing the file automatically, so the one I got is the one that should go into the SD card to upgrade the Camera. Did that and voila, my XVario is running version 1.1 now;-) Downloads // Leica X Vario // Leica X // Photography - Leica Camera AG

TommyC Posted September 15, 2014 Share #3 Posted September 15, 2014 Hello, I use a Mac and it works. You just need to unzip it first and save it to a SD card.

Ecaton Posted September 15, 2014 Share #5 Posted September 15, 2014 Just installed it, no problem with my Mac. The new auto iso/min shutter up to 1/1000 speed is great, making it an even better street shooter. Auto review can now be turned off which is another nice improvement. waloszek Posted September 15, 2014 Share #7 Posted September 15, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Auto Review always had an "Off" option on the X Vario. Regrettably, it never worked... And there is no mentioning in the update description that something was changed here (in contrast to the T, where the "Off" option was added with version 1.2, but there is still a brief glimpse of the image, obviously for technical reasons). Best regards, Gerd (Since I have only an iPad on my vacation, I cannot download the update and check it -- has anybody an idea whether this can be done???) CalArts 99 Posted September 16, 2014 Share #9 Posted September 16, 2014 The new auto iso/min shutter up to 1/1000 speed is great... And so they toss X2 owners off the cliff with no firmware update (like a much needed auto ISO update; the current one is useless.) Instead they release a whole new camera (Typ 113.) At least when Fuji releases a new camera, they will also offer updated firmware to existing owners of previous models so that they don't feel left out in the cold. Leica needs to really up their digital game. Great lenses, great designs, and great build, but always with backwards and (by the time they are released) outdated electronics. But kudos to them that they are still making great film rangefinders.

P.S.: For details see Leica X Vario: Functional Issues The same with the XV, the the image still shows on the lcd and EVF maybe for 1/2 second even with preview off. I guess it`s processor limitations to make this faster.
mikej Posted September 16, 2014 Share #12 Posted September 16, 2014 Yeah! I think my initial favorite is the change to the INFO button for confirmation of actions. Can't wait to install it tonight. Cheers, Mike
