And it is about 1.5 year to the Photokina 2008 which the new R camera is expected to come out. Almost certainly it would be sub-contracted...........then thoroughly tested by Leica and their band of beta testers. Although these may have been changed after the M testing debacle! rsolomon Posted May 21, 2007 Share #19 Â Posted May 21, 2007 looks like May will have come and gone waiting for this update.....my guess is that there will not be an update.....and it is what it is.....a great peice of hardware that was not exploited to it maximum.... for all practical purposes leica never prodvided a fimware upgrade for the DMR (V1.2 was basically recalled by leica) Â i suspect that as leica looks at this firmware update it is a cost in time , labor, expense, and probably requires outside assisatance. All this and to bring in no revenue... they probably concluded it doesn't make sense... Â So in my opinion : Leica is NOT able to maintain digital photgraphy products - ofcourse getting it right the first time is the goal.....and if they pull off getting the hardware and software to work perfectly the first time it'll be a first ... So far we DMR users hear nothing official from Leica on this firmware update, and if the update needs to be done, it should be done 10 months ago. So, there will be no update anymore.
