tourmie green Posted May 5, 2007 Share #1 Posted May 5, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) A number of M8 owners have expressed concern over the vulnerability of the LCD panel on their cameras. A delkin style pop up jobbie maybe? Well Leica should look to their parts and accessory bin for inspiration;the accessory lcd"hood" that was available for the Digilux 1 (remember that Fisher Price like brick?) is an almost perfect fit.A bit of tweaking and there is something else they can charge £150+ for. It does fit if you are very careful, but fouls the controls wheel to the right of lcd panel. - Food for thought anyway. To the Leica M8 digital forum collective;congrats. on being the very best for support and information on the whole wide www for anything photographic! 35mmSummicron Posted May 5, 2007 Share #2 Posted May 5, 2007 I have owned several digital cameras in the past without any sort of LCD protection and can say the only scratched i've produced on the LCD was on my Canon 20D. and that was because i over stuffed my bag while traveling. i certainly don't baby my equipment. that said i don't want to scuff my M8 so i've tried the ScreenPatronus protectors. they come off WAY too easily. right now i am using a heavier-duty version by a company called ShieldZone.com and it seems to work quite well. hope this helps. andy
