christoph_d Posted May 5, 2007 Share #2 Posted May 5, 2007 I bet that film was shot 36 times ... then drowned in chemicals ... and finally hanged and quartered...
peterv Posted May 5, 2007 Share #3 Posted May 5, 2007 LOL But you know, for me personally, it (film) is more alive than it ever was. Right now I'm scanning hundreds of 30 year-old negatives. Photo's I made when I was 16. The memories and the moments that come back to life... So brilliant and vivid. In colour and in balack and white At the moment I'm waiting for a new MP to arrive... Did a test last week; M8 @ 320 vs Kodak 400 Tmax... The outcome: Both so different, and both so usefull to everyone who wants to express her/himself with photography. It's aliiiiiiiiiiiiive Cheers, Peter http://photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=00L1PP

Woudl be very interesting to see. Thank you Tilman Not very scientific... Please don't start... The only conclusion I draw from this, is that I like grain... And also that the M8 files are amazing... Johannes Knightworth Posted May 6, 2007 Share #8 Posted May 6, 2007 It's the grain and DOF perhaps in combination with OOF that provides any image with "it" digital images look so perfect, so boring, so nothing ..... I don't have the M8 but a D5 .... and although the total imagary is good it just doesn't contain Atmosphere and character.... Perfection is always boring ..... and always has been, and always will be

Perfection is always boring ..... and always has been, and always will be I see your point Johannes, you know, it's just different horses for different courses... I like both film and the M8. For instance, my wife likes to have her portrait taken with the M8. And so do her female friends. The guys who I call my friends like their portraits grainy... Guest stnami Posted May 6, 2007 Share #12 Posted May 6, 2007 Thanks.........I just feel that the film/digital comparative saga should be treated as light humour. Taking it further is like using bleach to clean a Dalmatian:)
