Advertisement Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Hi lockesboy, Take a look here Leica DMR question URGENT!!!!. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
lockesboy Posted August 19, 2014 Author Share #2 Posted August 19, 2014 I'll answer my own question as it may be of benefit to others. The leica DMR Modul as fitted to the R8 or R9 series cameras needs an SD card of up to 2GB in capacity to function correctly. So, if you have just acquired one of these beauty's and like me have to hand only the larger more modern capacity SD cards, (16/32 GB) then those SD cards will not work in the DMR Modul. Also the DMR Modul will not fire the shutter on your Leica R8 or R9 UNLESS you have the correctly formatted 2GB or LESS SD card installed. I hope that the above information is of some use. Sincerely, Ian
jip Posted August 19, 2014 Share #3 Posted August 19, 2014 Yes, this has been discussed on the R side of the forum... you could have used the search box and would've found out that it does not support SDHC cards, only cards up to 2GB and some rare 4GB cards... lockesboy Posted August 20, 2014 Author Share #4 Posted August 20, 2014 I know that the DMR will only take the smaller memory SD cards, my question if you read it again was relating as to whether or not the shutter would fire if NO SD card was installed. My question in my first post below. "With the Leica DMR connected to the camera the shutter won't fire, Is this because there is NO memory card inserted ? " The answer is yes. I elaborated in my 2nd post so that others reading would gain a better understanding.
jip Posted August 20, 2014 Share #5 Posted August 20, 2014 Yes you are right you cannot fire the shutter of the R8/R9 with DM-R attached when there is no SD card, or a wrong SD card placed.
