Jimmykjimmy Posted July 24, 2014 Share #1 Posted July 24, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Started really shooting with the T today. Here's what I've found so far; 1) Lack time to focus is okay but it's not quick. Not the ideal street photo camera. 2) Once off it does take 2-3 seconds to get started. 3) A slight lag when moving from LCD to EVF 4) Should be able to turn LCD off altogether 5) Battery life looks to be somewhat comprised because LCD is on for prolonged periods Going out to shoot more. Advertisement Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 Hi Jimmykjimmy, Take a look here Leica T My First Impressions. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jonoslack Posted July 25, 2014 Share #2 Posted July 25, 2014 Hi Jimmy I agree with most of that - I've found battery life to be pretty good - I turn off the LCD sleep, and put system off to 20 minutes (the longest) - that helps with the general feeling of speed. Also - the internal memory is slow, affecting shot to shot times - using a fast SD card really does make a difference. all the best

And yes my T is here to stay. Some firmware updates a few prime lenses and I'm good to go!
Jimmykjimmy Posted July 26, 2014 Author Share #4 Posted July 26, 2014 Well, I've finished 2 days of shooting with the T. In addition I had the M with me as a backup, I wanted to compare the difference which really isn't fair they are two different cameras. As I mentioned in an earlier post there are some factors that effect the T. Speed is certainly one of them. But I do like the camera, handles well feels good in the hand. I replaced the original strap with a black rapid and it works okay, but I still prefer a wrist strap at times, have one ordered. I like the menu operation, it's simple and reminds me of my IPhone. The IQ with the kit lens is nice, the photos were good. Focus speed can get a little iffy if one is using this on the street. I had some out of focus shoots, not deal breakers, but if they were I might have been pissed. I'm keeping the camera, it's going to get updated, like the M. I find the M to be a pleasure to use and I'm sure the T will get there, it's only a matter of a short time.

T will be updated with bigger sensor..... not really something you can hope for to be changed with firmware update.

Hi There I think this is extremely unlikely, and certainly not for many years. I know, the lens mount will take it, but Leica have denied they're going to do it. . . . . . . Added to which the lenses certainly wouldn't support full frame. It would need to be a whole new system.

Yes, but.... I remember that Leica said a digital M was not realist -> gave M8, then a full format in the M8 frame was impossible... gave the M9,.. who knows what the gnome at Weitzlar has in the pocket? Nevertheless I'm not in a hurry to get a full frame T.

But I really think that the whole philosophy of the T is that of a perfectly formed SMALL system, and when you go full frame the lenses have to get BIG. satijntje Posted July 28, 2014 Share #9 Posted July 28, 2014 Well, I do not consider a 35mm cron, or even the old summilux-M 35mm design big..... Right now I'm using a very small 40mm Summicron-C on my M8 that can be used on a FF camera as well, and this is really very small!

AF makes the lens big. T's 23mm f/2 is bigger (diameter) than 28mm f/2 for FF.

papimuzo Posted July 29, 2014 Share #12 Posted July 29, 2014 You are Jono, Satijnje all right. At least I could use my M lenses manually keeping the device small... And of course, the time will say the truth as an humorist said (bad translation):" the forecast is always difficult, mainly when it concerns the future".. Have nice day and pictures! Exactly The good thing is that they've made a lens mount which could also be used on a full frame camera if they ever decided to make one.
